WHEELING, W.Va. – The United Way of the Upper Ohio Valley is pleased to announce that it has been awarded West Virginia Neighborhood Investment Program (NIP) Tax Credits for 2026-2027, allowing donors to make an impact on their community and receive a 50% tax credit on donations of $500 or more designated for emergency assistance programs. These credits directly benefit our neighbors and organizations throughout the United Way’s service area in the northern panhandle of West Virginia.
Here’s how it works:
Donors who make a gift of $500 or more to the United Way of the Upper Ohio Valley’s Emergency Assistance Program are eligible to receive West Virginia Neighborhood Investment Program Tax Credits equal to 50% of their gift.
Important guidelines:
To ensure accurate reporting to the State of West Virginia, a few specific requirements must be followed.
- Gifts must be $500 or more
- Checks must be made payable to the United Way of the Upper Ohio Valley
- Please note “Emergency Assistance” in the memo line
- Reference or notify us that the gift is for WV NIP credits
- Checks must be dated August 26, 2026 – March 15, 2027 to qualify for tax credits
Tax credits are issued on a first-come, first-served basis, so we encourage donors to act soon.
